Brandon Fanney came into his own as a junior and flourished as the Crimson Tide's starting jack linebacker. Brandon is an athletic linebacker that is a dangerous pass rusher, can stop the run and even dropped into pass coverage.  Brandon played in 25 games at Alabama over three seasons at the Capstone with 73 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and six quarterback hurries.  Brandon won the team's Up-Front Award, which goes to the outstanding lineman from both sides of the ball following the 2008 season.

2008 (JUNIOR): Fanney started all 14 games as Alabama's jack linebacker ... recorded 66 tackles on the season to rank third on the team ... made nine tackles for loss (-19) and a sack (-5) ... recovered one fumble and registered four quarterback hurries ... earned defensive player of the week honors from the Alabama coaching staff six times this season, including games against Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas State, Mississippi State and Auburn. Clemson: Fanney got the start at jack linebacker against the Tigers and notched one assisted tackle in the Tide's win. Tulane: He played well against the Green Wave with a career-high eight tackles, which matched his total career tackles entering the game (seven tackles in 2007 and one in the first game of the 2008 season) ... also notched 1.5 TFL for three yards. Western Kentucky: Fanney started and made one assisted tackle vs. the Hilltoppers. Arkansas: He turned in one of the best games of his career with seven tackles and a career-best two tackles for loss (-7) against the Razorbacks ... had five solo tackles and was named the coaching staff's defensive player of the week. Georgia: Fanney recorded half of a sack (-4) and made four total tackles in the Crimson Tide's 41-30 win at No. 3 Georgia. Kentucky: He was selected by the coaching staff as one of Alabama's Defensive Players of the Week ... made three tackles with one solo stop and half of a sack (-1) ... also logged a quarterback hurry in the Tide's 17-14 win. Mississippi: Fanney made four tackles - two solo - with a TFL (-1) and a pass breakup against the Rebels ... named one of the coaching staff's defensive players of the week. Tennessee: He had five tackles with four assisted stops and one TFL (-1) ... helped the Crimson Tide defense limit the Volunteers to just 36 yards rushing ... the seventh time in eight games Alabama has held its opponent to under 100 yards rushing ... the Tide also allowed just 173 yards of total offense. Arkansas State: Fanney made seven tackles - his second-highest total of the season - with half of a TFL ... helped lead a Crimson Tide defense that surrendered just 158 total yards and recorded 10 tackles for loss and four sacks. LSU: He notched seven tackles vs. the Tigers ... it was his second straight game with seven tackles ... made one tackle for loss (-1). Mississippi State: Fanney earned defensive player of the week honors against the Bulldogs for his five-tackle effort that included a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry. Auburn: He led the Crimson Tide with eight stops against the Tigers, including six assisted tackles ... earned player of the week honors from the Alabama coaching staff. Florida: Fanney made four total tackles against the Gators with two solo stops ... notched half of a sack and one tackle for loss ... helped limit the Gators' to just 358 total yards, almost 100 yards below their season average. Sugar Bowl vs. Utah: He made two total tackles with one solo stop against the Utes ... notched one quarterback hurry.

2007 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in 10 games ... did not see action against Florida State, Mississippi State and Colorado ... had seven tackles and two quarterback hurries to his credit ... had a career-high five tackles in the season-opener against Western Carolina ... had a solo stop and a quarterback hurry at Vanderbilt ... recorded an assist and a quarterback pressure in the homecoming win over Houston.
